In the early 80’s a new restaurant and ballroom were built called the Anna Liffey room, purpose built to ensure the more popular larger wedding reception was catered for. The old ballroom was converted into the extremely trendy “Ninjas” night club, where friends could meet, have their 21st birthdays and where many a local romance started. And indeed lead to quite a few wedding receptions in the hotel.

Over the last 45 + years, we have shared so many memories both happy and sad with so many members of staff and thousands of customers, from staff joining us part time for a Saturday job as teenagers staying with us and rising through the ranks over the years to become managers, to staff meeting the love of their lives here, marrying and having families.

Picking just ten long term members of staff here now, we have worked out that we have a combined total service of nearly 330 years!

We have had many a couple marry, have their children’s christenings, first communions, confirmations with us and indeed on more than one occasion even their child’s wedding! We reckon we have seen well over 5200 weddings, 20,100 communion and confirmation children and 3,000 christenings not forgetting the anniversaries, graduations, 21st birthdays, 80th birthdays and all the birthdays in between.

In 2023, Springfield Hotel entered a new chapter of its history, when the Hannigan family chose the Irish-owned and managed group, Cliste Hospitality, to carry on their legacy. Springfield Hotel is since part of The iNUA Collection group of hotels around Ireland. The hotel will undergo a refurbishment of its guestrooms, bar, and conference facilities, in the coming months. While remaining true to the legacy of the Hannigan family, and continuing to offer the most exceptional standards of traditional hospitality in Leixlip.
