- We had booked one night bb and evening meal in Season restaurant and so we were disappointed to hear that the restaurant was closed and had to eat in the bar , everything else was great!
- I've stayed with Springfield once before with my mam and, because it was so great, decided to stay here with my boyfriend over St Patricks Day for his first visit to Ireland. He absolutely loved it as well and we'll both be back! Thank you :)

Celebrating 40 years of memories
The year is 1973 – Ireland just joined EEC, Erskine H. Childers is our President, we are listening to Gilbert O’ Sullivan’s “Get Down” and Peters and Lee “Welcome Home” on our 45RPM vinyl records. The kids are either driving you crackers with their stylophones or klackers; boys were losing bits of their star wars figures and fighting over tennis on the Atari. We watched Quicksilver, Wanderly Wagon and Halls Pictorial Weekly on rented TVs.
And Paddy & Marie Hannigan were opening the Springfield Hotel. Initially there were 9 bedrooms, a ballroom, a reception and a bar employing 8 full time and 5 part time staff. 40 years and over 400 staff later we employ over 40 full time and 25 part time staff to ensure the smooth running of Patrick’s Bar, Season’s Restaurant, the Anna Liffey Ballroom, The Sarsfield Room, The Rye Room, Reception and our 52 bedrooms.
A restaurant was opened in 1979 and an “exotic” fare was offer such as:

In the early 80’s a new purpose built restaurant and the new Anna Liffey ballroom to ensure the more popular larger wedding reception was catered for. The old ballroom was converted into the extremely trendy “Ninjas” night club, where friends could meet, have their 21st birthdays and where many a local romance started. And indeed led to quite a few wedding receptions in the hotel.
Over the last 40 years, we have shared so many memories both happy and sad with so many members of staff and thousands of customers, from staff joining us part time for a Saturday job as teenagers staying with us and rising through the ranks over the years to become managers, to staff meeting the love of their lives here, marrying and having families. Picking just ten long term members of staff here now, we have worked out that we have a combined total service of nearly 300 years!
We have had many a couple marry, have their children’s christenings , first communions, confirmations with us and indeed on more than one occasion even their child’s wedding!
We reckon we have seen well over 5000 weddings, 20,000 communion and confirmation children and 3000 christenings not forgetting the anniversaries, graduations, 21st birthdays , 80th birthdays and all the birthdays in between.
We would like to thank all of our customers over the last 40 years for their support and continued custom, without you we wouldn’t be celebrating our “Ruby” anniversary. So here’s to the next 40 years and a new generation of patrons. We hope that the next generation of staff will be as happy working here within the “Springfield Family” as every one of us here today.
